CRPT Brings Hands-On Treatment To Wheeling

Release Date: February, 11 2013

Wheeling, W.Va. – One of the state’s premier physical therapy and rehabilitation firms is expanding its operation to include Ohio County and the surrounding region beginning Feb. 4, 2013.

Country Roads Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation LLC already has three successful locations – two in Fairmont and one in Buckhannon. Now Country Roads is branching out with a Wheeling office that will serve patients throughout the Northern Panhandle, eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

The Country Roads office will be at 2080 National Road in Elm Grove, conveniently located just off Interstates 70 and 470. Country Roads PT and Rehab will accept all major insurances.

“We are pleased to continue the growth of our company and bring our one-on-one philosophy and progressive treatments to the Wheeling area,” said Michael Barkley, who co-owns the company with Derek Falkenstein.

“We’re committed to providing quality physical therapy and rehabilitative care with a hands-on, manual therapy focus. We look forward to sharing our skills with new patients in the Wheeling area.”

Kevin Perris, DPT, will be the director and primary therapist at the new location. He and Barkley are both graduates of Wheeling Jesuit University’s physical therapy program, and Perris lived in Wheeling for 10 years.

“I appreciate the commitment Derek, Mike and all of their team members have to individualized treatment,” Perris said. “We’re eager to bring that level of care to people in and around Wheeling. At Country Roads, you receive personal attention and progressive treatment directly from a certified therapist. You are not left alone and expected to perform exercises that you could do on your own at home.”

Perris is certified in Dry Needling and will add ASTYM certification in the coming month. He is also certified in mechanical diagnosis and therapy, MDT, or the McKenzie Method.

“We’re committed to staying on the cutting edge of progressive therapies that can help our patients return to normal life as quickly as possible,” Barkley said. “For example, we’re among the minority of physical therapists that are certified in Dry Needling techniques, which alleviate muscle pain caused by trigger points or knots. Eliminating that pain helps restore normal movement, allowing people to return to everyday activities they may be avoiding.”

Country Roads’ location on National Road will initially be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with plans to add evening hours in the near future.

Barkley and Falkenstein, both DPT, opened their first location on June 5, 2006. As the business grew and market changed, a new facility was built at 1509 Fairmont Ave., allowing for expanded growth for the businesses as well as providing a state-of-the-art rehabilitation clinic for the needs of Marion County residents.

As word spread of the excellent treatment patients were receiving, a second location was opened to serve the East Side of Fairmont. Buckhannon joined the family in April of 2011 and has been just as successful.

“All three of our existing facilities are growing and expanding as demand for quality care increases,” Falkenstein said. “The natural progression for us was to add new service areas. We look forward to working with physicians in the region as well as patients.”

Falkenstein, a graduate of West Virginia University, stressed one thing that won’t change is the commitment of the entire staff to Country Roads’ mission and values.

“Country Roads Physical Therapy makes every effort to provide the highest quality outpatient physical therapy and rehabilitation services,” Falkenstein said. “Through hometown service and a ‘hands-on’ approach, we improve the quality of life for all our patients.”

Among the core values of staff throughout the Country Roads organization are a commitment to individualized care, progressive treatment, compassion, dignity, professionalism, personal development, professional independence and community involvement.
