Arrive 20 minutes early to complete paperwork. During the initial visit, the therapist will assess your ability to perform basic activities, examine for any skeletal problems, and test strength and flexibility.
With this information, the therapist will customize a treatment plan to address your individual needs. Occasionally, the therapist may repeat this process to evaluate your progress.
After your evaluation, your therapist will implement a progressive treatment plan that is designed to challenge you until established goals are reached. During treatment, you may experience some increase in symptoms. It is imperative that you communicate with your therapist about anything related to pain and the ability to perform basic activities. This information will help your therapist make modifications, if necessary, and monitor your progression.
How Can I Maximize My Therapy?
To ensure consistency with your therapy, a best practice is to schedule your next appointment before leaving the clinic. Attend all of your therapy sessions, and reschedule appointments immediately if they must be missed. We also strongly recommend that you regularly perform the “at-home exercises” prescribed by your therapist . If you are planning on participating in activities that require lots of movement, be sure to get plenty of rest the night before, take frequent breaks, wear appropriate shoes, and rest after. Don’t overexert yourself, and always plan accordingly.
